HDMI input making choppy/ ticking/ helicopter-like sound.
Netflix or other smart TV apps are creating these sounds but normal TV isn't.
FIX:
Go into TV settings
Find the audio output settings
Change the output codec to PCM or LPCM or Stereo (it is likely on auto)
The names of these settings and the path to get there will likely be slightly different.
Explanation:
When using a smart TV a user can choose to watch Netflix or other external applications through there TV.
Unlike standard digital TV channels, some of these applications produce a digital stream that our Mu-so 2 and Uniti products cannot decode and play-out properly.
In this instance, you can get a choppy/ ticking/ helicopter-like sound as the processor tries to decode the signal wrongly.
Naim product ARC support:
PCM
DSD
For Naim products:
The compressed audio needs to be downmixed into a format the product understands by the TV. Instructions for this under FIX.
